- Know the requirements of the species of fish being kept.

- Record tests and determine trends.
- Do NOT overfeed or overcrowd.
- Test water before adding fish.
- Perform regular water changes.
- Be sure test kits have not expired.
- Store test kits in a cool, dry place away from children and pets.
